Magnetic Field Saves Pillars of Creation from Destruction

New 850 micrometer observations, taken as part of the BISTRO (B-Fields in Star-forming Region Observations) Survey using the POL-2 polarimeter on the SCUBA-2 camera of the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) show that the internal magnetic fields run along the length of the pillar.

Dr. Ishikawa and Dr. Hada Receive the MEXT Commendation for Science and Technology for Young Scientists

Dr. Ryoko Ishikawa (Assistant Professor in the NAOJ Solar Science Observatory) and Dr. Kazuhiro Hada (Assistant Professor at Mizusawa VLBI Observatory) each received the Young Scientists’ Prize, in the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

On Wednesday, March 28, 2018, the eighth Communicating Astronomy with the Public Conference (CAP) finished as a great success at the Fukuoka City Science Museum, in Fukuoka. This edition was the largest CAP Conference ever, with 446 participants from 53 different countries.
