The Moon Passing Close to Jupiter
The Season for Observing Jupiter is Almost Over

Jupiter shines brightly in the western sky after sunset. On July 9, the Moon can be seen just below Jupiter. The close proximity of Jupiter and the Moon is likely to draw the eye in the western evening sky.
The season for observing Jupiter, which started in the spring, is almost over. After this, Jupiter appears to approach the Sun, gradually making observations more difficult.
Jupiter reaches conjunction on September 26. The next time Jupiter is easy to observe in the evening sky is around April 2017, when Jupiter approaches opposition.
