Scientific Goals and Missions - Nobeyama Radio Observatory

Purpose

The Nobeyama Radio Observatory explores millimeter astronomy through researches on star formation and the interstellar medium with the 45-m radio telescope.

Missions

The mission of this project is to provide the world science community with opportunities of scientific observations and of instrument development using the Nobeyama 45-m radio telescope, and with the observational data from it.

Primary Scientific Goals

The primary scientific goals of this project are:

  1. to carry out research on star formation and interstellar medium based on extensive mapping observations of the CO molecule; and
  2. conduct research on star formation based on high-sensitivity observations of the deuterated molecules.

Target Date

End of March 2028
