Statement from the NAOJ Director General on the Situation in Ukraine

The National Astronomical Observatory of Japan has been monitoring the situation in Ukraine with the hope of a peaceful resolution through early dialogue, but we now fear that the situation may become protracted.

We are deeply concerned about its impact on international collaborative research as we have been hosting researchers from overseas, including Ukraine.

We will continue to monitor the developments in the region closely and make every effort to protect a fair and peaceful research environment under any circumstances.
