MOIRCS - Subaru's new "infrared eye" now open

| Science

Subaru Telescope opened its doors to astronomers from all over the world in December, 2000. In the five years since then, the telescope's capabilities have been further advanced through ongoing development of new observational instruments. Leading the charge, we now have MOIRCS, the Multi-Object Infrared Camera and Spectrograph which became available for general use in February, 2006.
