Researchers from NAOJ, University of Tokyo and other universities investigated the atmosphere of a super Earth called GJ1214b.

A super Earth is an extrasolar planet with intermediate mass and radius between those of Earth and Neptune.

Although the atmospheric composition of GJ1214b was controversial until recently, this research revealed it consists mainly of water vapor.
