Chromospheric Lyman-Alpha SepctroPolarimeter (CLASP)

A new instrument called CLASP is being developed to observe the magnetic fields of the solar chromosphere and transition region.

CLASP is a project using a NASA sounding rocket to make a precise measurement of the magnetic fields of the solar chromosphere and transition region. The Hinode satellite discovered magneto-hydrodynamic waves and supersonic jets occurring in the solar chromosphere.

These discoveries led to an idea that the next frontier in solar physics lies in simultaneous observations of the dynamics and magnetic structures in the chromosphere and transition region.
