Introduce astrometric satellite (JASMINE) that is to measure the position of stars. At the floor, will display the explanation of JASMINE, 3-D starry sky with red-blue glasses, model of satellite, and so on. (Exhibition)

Star Party at 50cm Telescope for Public Outreach

Star party will be held with 50 cm diameter reflection telescope.

  • From 2 pm to 5 pm: Venus and 1st-magnitude stars (possible to see day time)
  • From 5 pm to 7 pm: Uranus, etc. (need numbered ticket)
  • The numbered ticket will be distributed from 4 pm in front of the 50cm Telescope Dome for Public Outreach.

It will be cancelled in case of rain.

Star party : Let's look at the stars with various telescope!

Support makers, buyer, group will bring their telescope and hold star party. Let's look at many stars with various telescopes! (not need numbered ticket)

Usually, visiting is permitted only outside. On the day, you can enter the inside. The visiting tour is about 20 people for one time. (*for safety reason, you cannot crime the tower part.)

Display cutouts by staff of NAOJ and astronomical pictures taken by Ishigaki Observatory. You can also rest in this room.

The Universe look from the highest observatory in the world

Introduce the research of Institute of Astronomy of the University of Tokyo. The observatory TAO of this institute that is built at 5640m high in Chile is in the Guinness World Records as "highest astronomical observatory". Introduce the universe from this observatory. (Exhibition)
