Opening Hours
The open hour is 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (the admission is until 4:30 pm).
How to Join
Admission free.
No reservations required. Please sign in at the Guard House.
Others
There are free bicycle parking and toll parking. Free Wi-Fi is available.
Saturday / Sunday, national holidays, during summer vacation / spring vacation period: Solar Observation Day at 20-cm Telescope Dome.

How to Entry

Please sign in at the Guard House.

  • Please scan the QR code posted at the security office and complete the form, or sign the “Visitor Registration Form.”
  • We will provide visitor stickers for all tourists. Please affix them to a visible location on your clothing while on the Mitaka Campus.
  • Visitors arriving by car may use the paid visitor parking lot located near the rear gate. Visitors arriving by bicycle may use the bicycle parking lot immediately adjacent to the main gate.

Inclusive Services

  • The NAOJ Tour Guide is available in five languages: Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, and Spanish.
  • Braille and large print versions of the "NAOJ Tour Guide (Japanese version)" are available. If you need one, please pick one up at the guardhouse.
  • Audio guides and Japanese sign language guides are available for use on your own smartphone or tablet.
  • You can take a virtual tour with the NAOJ VR.

For your safety and smile

  • Please not to enter the areas and facilities that are not opened for public. Be careful mosquitoes, bees, snakes and etc.
  • The National Astronomical Observatory of Japan is a research institute. Please not to come to the open course in the campus with pets. Assistance dogs (service dog, guide dog, and so on) are allowed in the campus.
  • Please use resting room or outdoor bench to eating and drinking.
  • Please take all your garbage back home with you. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • Smoking is prohibited inside the campus except smoking area.
  • National Astronomical Observatory of Japan is working on conservation vegetation. Let's keep the rich nature in the campus.
