This image shows a group of ALMA* antennas deployed at 5000m elevation on the Atacama Plateau in Chile, South America, focusing on the Morita Array (Atacama Compact Array) developed by Japan. The antenna in the foreground on the right is a 12m antenna developed by Japan. Arranged in the center are the 7m antennas developed by Japan. In the distance, behind the 12m Japanese antenna is a 12m European antenna. Next to that a 12m North American antenna can be seen.
Research at this location with its stable air for optimal observation conditions is made possible by international collaboration.
